Nine Fine Irishmen
(bob rogers) 3:56

They were sentenced to be hung drawn and quartered
For treason against her majesty
But in 1848 they were transported
To Australia never more would they be free

But when 20 years and 5 had gone by now
To the queens astonishment you might well see
When she learned one of the 9 Sir Charles Duffy
Was prime minister of her prison colony

So she asked how could it be one of that rabble
Could attain a title post so high and grand
And of the other 8 the story was unraveled
Of 9 brave men who took a rebels stand

Chorus

They said we'd do it all again, oh yes we'd do it all again
I give to you the honest word of 9 fine Irish men
Although the noose may be our lot we promise never to get caught
If you would set us free..... By the power that may be
I promise you that we....... would do it all again.

Two Brigadier Generals in America’s army
Terrence McManus and Pat O'Donoghue
Maurice Lyne and Michael Ireland in Australia'
Attorney general was the post they both rose to.

The prime minister of New Foundland Rich O'Gorman
Canada's 2nd in command was Tom Magee
Thomas Meagher the governor of Montana
Is the man who told the judge to set them free!
He said (Repeat Chorus)

John Mitchell was the last name on the roll call
Of the men who from the gallows almost fell
He was elected into parliament for Ireland
And the man who told the Brits to go to hell

He said (Repeat Chorus 2Xs)
